Twin Falls to Provo

We're okay....just didn't have WiFi last night for Internet connection so we had to be old-fashioned and write post cards.  Still we have had 2 days of great sightseeing.  I have said 'Wow' so many times, I am now officially bored with myself.

It has been somewhat colder than we expected at times.  We woke up in Twin Falls with our water hose frozen solid.  After spending some time boiling the kettle and applying boiling water to the entire length of the hose, we said stuff it, rolled it up and put it in the shower.  And away we went.

We drove through flatlands for ages, potato country and the sprinklers that were left running all night were a frozen spectacle in the morning.  You will see them at the bottom of this page as I've put them on all backwards.  We're both pretty tired tonight.

However, as I was starving at about 1:30 on the Interstate, good ol' Clancy checked out the map and pointed to Antelope Island at the edge of the Great Salt Lake.  We nearly gave up as it seemed quite a long way, and then they wanted $9.00 but we paid up and boy was it worth it.  Fantastic views and more.    Here is us with the Great Salt Lake in the background and a few snowy mountains.

We were amazed at the geographic setting of Salt Lake City.  It is flanked by mile after mile of snowy mountains and the city and its townships run on for some time.  Not at all what we imagined.  This is just a picture from the Interstate....as you can see.

This is a shot back across the causeway from Antelope Island.

And THIS is one of the last wild herd of bison in the world.  Really, this place is the same as it was 160 years ago with Bison and Antelope grazing the prairie.  This guy was just heading down to the waterhole for a drink.  We were busy snapping a quick shot and then pushing each other out of the way to get into the RV.  I'll go first.

Frozen sprinklers of the morning.

And then we camped at Provo which is not as far as we hoped to get thanks to Antelope Island.  I'm going to make that another posting so goodbye for now.

Oh and thanks for all the comments and encouraging emails.  It is certainly keeping us going withe the computer stuff.

We've also been stocking up on DVDs so we can watch the odd movie or some such in the evening before drifting off to sleep in our bed designed by wardens for prisoners.  Hmmm.

I'm enjoying all the photos - it looks wonderful. I should have got a map to follow but never mind. Sleep and work at the moment. Your journal lifts my day. Keep having fun.

Hey Moms, sounds and looks amazing, I somehow had it in my head Utah would be flat and plain like... not lined with snowy peaks. Seen any polygamists? Get a pic if you can... ze 'natives'. I laughed very hard at the bison story... xxx love yas
